EVERYONE
WHO LIVES OR WORKS IN YATTON AND CLAVERHAM IS BEING ASKED HOW
THEY WOULD LIKE THEIR VILLAGE TO DEVELOP IN THE FUTURE.
The idea of a PARISH PLAN is to involve as
many residents as possible in identifying a community’s
needs and drawing up an ACTION PLAN that prioritises the issues
raised for action in 2 years, 5 years or 10 years time and
sets out how they might be tackled.
A Parish Plan is the next step after the Village
Character Statement. North Somerset Council is looking at
Yatton’s statement now, to adopt it. Claverham’s
statement was adopted in February 2002.
Are we the only villages doing this?
No - this is a government initiative. Every rural community
has a chance to influence the way it evolves in the future.
By ensuring that the Parish Council and North Somerset Council
know what we want we stand a better chance of influencing
what happens on our doorstep.
So, what happens next?
It is vital that the voices of residents, local businesses,
clubs and associations are heard. Whether you want change
or not, it will happen. This is your chance to influence/manage
change.
